2022.07.27

Acast-associated podcasts swept through the British Podcast Awards 2022 this past weekend, taking home a massive 35 awards — including the top trophies on offer — with the BBC winning Podcast of the Year for Dear Daughter and Podcast Champion for You, Me and The Big C.

Acast also won big in the Bullseye Award — awarded to podcasts that represent smaller, niche audiences — with And Then Came Breast Cancer and Getting Emotional collecting Gold and Silver respectively.

Elsewhere, it was a clean sweep in the Best Business Podcast category, with The Economist’s Money Talks, Ninetwentynine and the The FT’s Money Clinic taking Gold, Silver and Bronze respectively.

Have You Heard George’s Podcast, from the BBC, took home a full podium of awards, with Gold in Creativity, Silver in Smartest Podcast, and Bronze in Best Documentary Podcast.

Other Gold winners included Media Storm — from the house of the Guilty Feminist — which took home the top prize in the Current Affairs category, Stories of our Times from The Times, which won the Best Interview award, and Soundworlds, which took home Gold in the Best Fiction Category.

Overall, Acast associated podcasts took home 43% of the podcast awards on the day and Acast were by far the winningest podcast host. Our production partners in Stak and BBC Radio 5 Live also took home awards for Best Network or Publisher.

It wasn’t just our partners and Creator Network podcasts winning awards. Acast Creative, our in-house creative team, collected the Gold award for Best Commercial Campaign for the Klarna - Money Talks series, which brought together branded episodes from some of the most popular podcasts in the UK to discuss everyday finances, and created a physical card game to play along.

And Chattin’ Shit To Save The Planet — a collaboration between Acast, Virgin Media O2 and the Chattin’ Shit podcast — collected Bronze in the Climate Award Category.
